Gerald R. Ford (1913-2006) was the 38th Vice Pres. (1973-1974) and the 40th President (1974-1977) of the U.S. He was also the first to hold office while never elected. A man of god and an everyman, Ford tried to heal the nation's pain after Vietnam.
