EastEnders is an institution and definitely the best British soap opera on UK television today. Sixteen years now and it has not slowed down, It is still as compelling as it ever was. It is not full of ridiculously beautiful people or outrageous plotlines like you average American soap. This soap opera shows a complete image of real life.
Barbara Jordan (1936 to 1996), became the first African-American congresswoman to be elected, and re-elected, from the deep South. She captured the attention of the nation during the 1974 Nixon impeachment hearings. She died of pneumonia at the age of 59.

Douglas MacArthur (1880-1964) was Americas senior military commander in the Far East during World War Two. He found fame as the officer who led Americas withdrawal from the Philippines with the quote "I shall return". It was a promise that Douglas MacArthur was to fulfill.
George Foreman was boxings most feared fighter from 1973 to 1974, Olympic Gold Medalist and Two Time Heavyweight Champion of the World. He retired in 1997 but his fame was intact he made millions as a TV pitchman for a low fat cooking gadget called the George Foreman Grill.
Cindy Sheehan aka peace mom, the California mother who became an anti-war leader after her son was killed in Iraq, probably never intended to sound like a candidate, but she did. She achieved national attention when she camped outside President Bushs home throughout August 2005 to demand a meeting over her sons death.
