Actor Jamie Farr played the soldier on MASH who dressed up as a lady. He was no transexual, he wanted to get a Section 8 psychiatric discharge from the army, so by habitually wearing women's clothing and engaging in other "crazy" stunts he tried.
Frank was kind of the strict goody two shoes who had an extramarrital affair with Margaret "Hot Lips". But he was eventually given a psychiatric discharge in the beginning of the 1977-78 season. He was Hawkeye's foil.
Major Charles Emerson Winchester III replaced Frank Burns onthe tv show MASH in about 1978. David Ogden Stiers played him as the arrogant wealthy harvard surgeon. He was cold at first but in the final episode showed the most character arc.
