Gomer Pyle, played by Jim Nabors, was an established character on the very successful Andy Griffith Show. Gomer is Mayberry's naive, thickheaded gas station attendant. He gets into countless scrapes with Deputy Barney and can be a bit of an annoyance to the even-tempered Andy.
Ernest T. Bass was a fictional character on the American TV sitcom The Andy Griffith Show. He was played by Howard Morris. The guy's an absolutely unhinged, outrageous, hilbilly nutbar that I really think must somehow only be about 1/2 earthling!
