The leader of Libya, Muammar al-Gaddafi, is an often-outspoken critic of the West. He has in the past been accused of backing terrorism and seeking to develop nuclear weapons. In 2011 protests and a revolution broke out and news reports of him ordering death squads and air attacks to kill scores of unnarmed Libyan protestors have come to bear.
