The Fairlight Computer Musical Instrument was a general-purpose computer with peripheral devices that allowed the musician to digitize sounds, store them, and then play them. It was probably the first great sampler developed in Sydney, Australia in 1980s. It has been used by Duran Duran, Heaven 17, Alan Parsons, and Supertramp.
